The Rainbow Fish

Sun, Oct 20, 2019

Based on the international bestselling children’s book, Rainbow Fish is the musical story of the ocean’s most beautiful, most shimmery fish. When Rainbow Fish refuses to share his vibrant shimmering scales, the whole ocean seems to turn against him for his vanity. Unhappy that no one adores him anymore, the Rainbow Fish seeks out the wise Octopus who helps him understand that it is far more valuable to be admired for being kind than it is for being beautiful. October 12 at 2 pm will be a Sensory Friendly Performance. During this performance, we have added accommodations for patrons with sensory-processing disorders, PTSD, or Autism. For instance, house lights will remain half-lit, trigger-warning lights may illuminate, and we will offer a safe space in our lobby for over-stimulated patrons. This is not a condensed show.

Death By Chocolate

Thu, Oct 24, 2019

It’s back!!! Our 4th annual Death by Chocolate fundraiser — Moonlight Monsters & Mayhem — is more spooky, more macabre, and more spirited than ever. In fact, it’s an event to die for . . . There will be devilishly delicious chocolate treats from the Chattahoochee Valley’s finest restaurants, chefs, caterers, and confectioners available for all you chocolate lovers. And for those you who crave just a little something different, there will be scrumptious savories and delicious hors d’oeuvres of all types, plus a variety of delightfully “spirited” libations. As our new name implies, we’re embracing the fun of Halloween . . . there’ll be evil eyed ravens and skeletons galore, a fortune teller, a wild “witchy” band and a dance floor to work out that end-of-week melancholy madness. Plus, there will be a Costume Contest for those of you who are longing to express your “inner beings.” Let’s create a little mayhem, shall we? All “spookies” aside, DBC’s Moonlight Monsters & Mayhem is our annual fundraiser and it is very important. The museum cares for a unique collection of nationally important naval artifacts and archival materials. We provide educational programs and tours for schoolchildren and adults alike, as well as a variety of entertaining public events and programs for the community. Your support helps sustain the museum’s operating budget, which in turn allows us to continue to share the stories about the Civil War navies that you will hear nowhere else! Check out our website at www.portcolumbus.org or social media for details about Moonlight Monsters & Mayhem.
